Review of The Great Beauty (2013) by Northern T — 05 Jan 2014
A Roman feast for the eye and ear. The subtelties of the film need pointing out. Not totally a weltsmertz film, the extra half hour at the end wears you out quite like if you had been at one of the great parties in the film.
A Roman feast for the senses. The film has subtelty that you need help to discover by discussing it with friends. The extra half hour towards the end wears you out like you had been at one of those great parites in the film. Not just weltsmertz. Rome has timeless beauty even if one human life is short by comparison. Seize the day. Get back to your roots where you have beauty and enjoy it where you find it is another good message to take away from this demanding movie.
