As an actor, I find myself studying the wonderful character actors in this film: Russell Simpson as Pa, John Carradine as Casey, the incomparable Jane Darwell as Ma (heartbreaking), unforgettable John Qualen as Muley, and especially Charley Grapewin (better remembered as Uncle Henry in Wizard of Oz) giving the performance of his life as Grandpa.
I go back to this time after time to watch the actors and Ford as director. One of my Top 5 favorites.
