Review of The Graduate (1967) by Michael T — 28 Mar 2013
The Graduate is a classic masterpiece. With extraordinary and intelligent direction from Mike Nichols, and two groundbreaking performances from Mr Hoffman and Miss Bancroft, as well as the immortal soundtrack from Simon and Garfunkel make this, an unforgettable as well as unmissable cinematic experience.
..While, as many critics have noted the film has dated, in the sense that it may not be as sexually daring now, as it was on release, in the late 1960s, the film's core themes, about human identity and discovery are ageless, and the film's very last scene confirms the bittersweet and somewhat heartbreaking truth, that the universe does not have any purpose for most of us, and that we are, in a word, lost.
