Review of The Graduate (1967) by Marnie Z — 12 Feb 2013
The subtitle to this movie should be "How irritating would it be if a pampered and ungrateful outcast was allowed to have an affair with a beautiful mother and daughter but was a total douchebag about the whole thing".
Honestly, found the young Dustin Hoffman utterly insufferable; an infuriating mix of stuttering incompetence and over confident selfishness. At times he acted so bazaar and antisocial, this movie might as well have been an accidental portrayal of Asperger's syndrome.
If this is the 1960's version of the funny, lovable, at-odds-with-the-world dork (ie Seth Cohen) then thank jesus I don't live in the 60s.
