Review of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) by Twins S — 05 Feb 2012
Almost a 3 hours long movie that one can watch over and over without getting bored. This movie is a master piece in a variety of levels but the story telling and it's progress certainly make this movie a pleasure to watch. The 3 main Characters.
Clint Eastwood (Blondie:The Good) Eli Wallach (Tuco: The Ugly) and Lee Van Cliff (Angel eyes: The Bad) are played fantastically, their characterisation and especially the one of Tuco (the Ugly) make the story and the action flow.
The story indeed untwined accordingly to the characters individual choises that by faith are led to meet in a final iconic "truel" also known as "Mexican stand off" largely used by Tarantino in Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Pulp Fiction (1994).
The story also evolves against the backdrop of the American Civil War, giving an historic insite on the New Mexico Campaign 1862. Costumes and props are detailed to the time of the events.
This movies contains all the elements of a real block buster, hence a great number of extras, great locations great cast but also is poetically stylish.
