Review of The Good Son (1993) by Jordan F — 19 Apr 2010
After his mother's death, a young boy is sent to live with his extended family, and his sadistic, disturbingly antisocial cousin. With Macaulay Culkin as the villain (who does a decent job), "The Good Son" gains some street cred for it's notoriety, and yet had anyone else acted in the role, this film most likely would have swept away with the rest of the cable re-runs.
This film tries to take a modern spin on the evil-child "Bad Seed" sub-genre, and does so, but unfortunately lacks a lot of the bite that it should have. The end result is an interesting, but rather weak and inconsistent thriller.
