Review of The Good Lie (2013) by Alvin Y — 17 Dec 2014
The Good Lie is an example of how somebody will try to give away something that must be used wisely. In this case, we learn about these Sudanese people and their stories about war and families that are torn apart from each other. When you know that it's a movie that must be seen and be concerned by the American society, then you got it. The film explores some of the most tough and hard choices to be made in order to stay and/or live in US, and also how one person can inspire other people as well. The movie is overall not about the Reese Withersoon character to become a woman again but about the story of these Sudanese people on how they show to the world their past times and how important it is to have a family and a tradition that most of us Americans still can't manage to work on.
I'm calling the film a great film because it understands and rekindles the spirit of those stories that once we thought were not necessary to be told but still delivers a solid tears of joy moments.
