Review of Mortdecai (2015) by Alvin Y — 09 May 2015
If I had a painting and a picture, what is the difference? Well the answer to that is like sitting the whole 106 minutes of the film without anything answered at all. If this film didn't became a comedy, more like a caper or heist, something like Thomas Crown Affair or Charade, then it would have been a decent OK film for all the actors involved here.
Speaking of the actors, everybody you would see in this movie will remind you of some of their best movie roles in their entire career, let me name a few of them: Depp: Public Enemies, Blow, Donnie Brasco, Paltrow: Shakespeare in Love, the Iron Man movies seriously, MacGregor: Moulin Rouge, Big Fish, Bettany: to name a few, And on and on and on goes on the list.
I don't have a problem with the storyline, it's more like a mystery adventure film but really the cast ruined it so much. If you want to see Depp in a serious funny role then you got the Pirates of the Carribean movies.
