Review of The Good German (2006) by Abigail O — 29 Feb 2008
It was black and white, and Spiderman was in it but I think he must have been taken over by "bad" Spiderman because he was doing something quite shocking to a young lady with no clothes on! I was most surprised.
And there were a couple of doctors off of ER, they were talking to each other for a while, and the backgrounds were all these black and white photos of Berlin in 1945. Cate Blanchett had a great look and just the right husky femme-fatale voice, but there was a Scottish guy who ruined the tone for me because he had a very modern sounding accent.
The eponymous character looked a bit like Guy Pearce but he wasn't, and he was supposedly an SS man who wanted to bust this whole thing wide open, and to me that's just not credible. People sought to survive during the war, and after it, they wouldn't suddenly grow a conscience and sing like Tweety-Pie about the murders and genocide they were involved in, they would be hanged for it! So that part of the story didn't work for me.
George Clooney got beaten up quite a few times.... I was all like, yeah, whatever.
