Review of The Good German (2006) by Duncan D — 22 May 2008
A stunningly executed idea.
Blanchett is flawless and very beautiful (it was hard to watch the film because of it).
A film of constant pace that is kept throughout, which helps to give the ending a proper feeling of inevitability.
The viewer can only become enthralled after the death of Tobey Maguire as his acting is terrible. For this reason the first half an hour is unbearable, in the end though it is worth the wait.
The cinematography is fantastic and perfect when accompanyed by the musical score of Thomas Newman as it makes the film feel like a classic piece of film from eh era.
Sadly Tobey spoils a possible perfect 5.
