Review of The Good German (2006) by Lady D — 11 Jun 2011
Well, what else did you expect? The guy's experimenting more than most US directors today! I agree with the fact that it was a failed attempt to merge a noir thriller with a post-war setting, but the flick itself is more solid than, say, the entire filmography of Soderbergh except for Traffic and the Che movies! This definitely surpasses the entire preposterous Ocean's trilogy and stupid flicks like "The Informant" and the like... An uneven style is always distracting, but this is the first proof I have of saying that if Cate Blanchett had been born 40 years before, she would've been an extraordinary classic star!
65/100.
