Review of The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1973) by Zachary F — 13 Jul 2008
It's Ray Harryhausen, so I knew it'd be good. I never expected to enjoy it as much as I did. The dialog was surprisingly funny without being campy. And the best scene of all is the dance of Kali.
I was also particularly impressed with the attention given to the character of the villain. Most movies of the 70s didn't really bother. Overall, my only issue with this movie is the confusion of mythologies (like Kali's place of worship, for one).
That aside, I love this movie.
