Review of The Gold Rush (1925) by Edwin K — 11 Aug 2007
Pure Gold! Chaplin is so likable and charming (as always) that you can't go wrong with this little fella. I watched the 1945(with sound) and the original 1925(silent) one. Although I liked 1945 edited version, I much prefer the 1925 silent picture, because while 1945 one tells the story telling by the narration of Charlie Chaplin step by step, image by image.
The 1925 original silent film lets US tell the story with our own creativity. Besides, films are meant to be seen the way things were.
