Review of The Giver (2014) by Cady U — 24 Aug 2015
I love it. I don't understand why some think the book's better. The motion picture includes more characters, made the story more complex, and not just the interaction between The Giver and Jonas, and Jonas' escape covering majority of the scenarios.
Though, I guess you would be disappointed if you watched the trailer. The trailer seems to promise more than it really is.
But really, still a great movie. Nice special effects, good cinematography. More focus on the other characters than just Jonas and The Giver (as said before). I loved how much Fiona and Asher got involved compared to the book. Rosemary was also given depth, she was almost just described in the book. The Elders too were given more screen time. And what happened to The Community when Jonas had crossed the boundary... well, that was a sight to see. There was nothing in the book about that. To think the movie was more intricate and detailed than the book. The book was good, just not at much. This is my opinion.
