Review of The Gift (2015) by Lucas Y — 13 Jun 2016
Pretty awesome the first time you see it. After my second viewing I had a hard time staying into it knowing Gordo wasn't the creep you thought he was the first time. Intelligent script with a very dark Fincher-esque/Hitchcockian feel to it.
The ending is very much Usual Suspect-y. Very thought provoking look at the fine line between heroes and villains. The Gift had me thinking for days after my first viewing. I wouldn't recommend watching it twice though.
**SPOILER - I really believe Gordo raped Robyn. Why was he spying on her at the clothing store? To see if she was indeed pregnant. He had no beef with her.. And how else do you explain the big reveal at the end? There would be no revenge on his part.
Simon screwed his relationship. Gordo got him where it hurt, his namesake.
