Review of The Ghost and the Darkness (1996) by Joey M — 09 Jun 2008
What I want to know is, how the hell is Michael Douglas on the bill before Val Kilmer in this? Seriously, he was in like a third of the actually movie. WTF?
It was decent and entertaining to watch but it had some loose ends. For example: you expect Val to kill a lion with his bare hands due to some African dude telling him about it in the beginning. He doesn't. It gets to be way too predictable and Douglas has the acting capabilities of a shower curtain, much unlike his father.
The story although partially based on truth is pretty much a recycled version of Jaws. This ranges from how the show the lions to the musical motives. There are a lot of similarities. This, however, does not even come close to Jaws.
As I said. Entertaining at the least, but not a great film.
It still had the power to scare the piss out of me when I was eight though.
