You never rate a horror movie by plots or character depth...you rate a horror film simply by how much it scares you or puts a sense fear into your soul. I will say this, I saw this movie when I was about 8, and it scared me then.
I just showed this movie to my sons last night, and both of them were terrified. So pretty much, if you're looking for a semi-safe horror film for your kids, this is it.
