Review of The Gate (1987) by Angela G — 06 Aug 2008
The thing that strikes me most about "The Gate" is how it would never get made today. Kids playing with guns? Or for that matter, kids placed in REAL JEOPARDY? No way.
Even if heavy metal is portrayed as the root of all evil (yawn), I have a soft spot for this dorky little movie. Just like "The Monster Squad", this film shows that there's a place for a bona fide kids' movie that's not afraid to actually *thrill* its audience. And some of the special effects hold up beautifully, especially the creepy, tiny, white demons.
Stupid, but fun.
