Review of The Funhouse (1981) by Irvin C — 28 Oct 2010
This '80s horror flick reminded me quite a bit of the original "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" but with carnies which shouldn't be a surprise considering this film is by Tobe Hooper. The basic plot of the film is pretty formulaic and falls into the same tropes that many of the films of this kind released at that time have ("Halloween" did it best) so it is pretty predictable.
But what makes this film stand out from them is the spooky aesthetic of the Funhouse which gives the film most of its scares. The score's pretty good too. It's very good but not quite great.
