Review of The Fountain (2006) by Roger C — 18 May 2012
One of those movies that was bound to polarise opinion, but this is a stunning piece of work that deserves all the praise it gets. The fact it went through so many problems and suffered budget setbacks hasn't distilled Darren Aronofsky's vision one bit.
The acting is superb; Clint Mansell's soundtrack is haunting and evocative and the visuals are breathtaking. It's not one of those films where all the loose ends are tied up in a neat bow, but like 2001, it begs to be seen again and again.
