Review of The Fountain (2006) by Christopher S — 13 Jan 2012
This film was horrible, absolutely horrible. So confusing and historically inaccurate to boot. Darren Aronofsky should have told us at the end of the movie what the hell this was about because it made little sense to me.
It boggles my mind that Aronofsky would direct a film like this, especially since he showed his talents in Requiem for a Dream and other films which followed the Fountain. I guess we all deserve a mulligan and this was definitely Aronofsky's mulligan.
It just seemed like Aronofsky tried too hard to make this film like the neoclassical Italian films of the 1960s. Not good at all and 90 minutes I wish I had back.
