Review of The Founder (2016) by Dan K — 04 Feb 2017
With Michael Keaton in the lead role, I expected a good movie and I was not disappointed. There was a great supporting cast, but this was Keaton's movie all the way. The story of Ray Kroc's emergence as a giant on the American business scene is fascinating to watch, as Kroc draws on the good ideas of other people to create a restaurant chain that becomes an American icon. It was probably inevitable that the original founders of the idea, the McDonald brothers, were swept aside as Kroc marched on with their ideas. Kroc's career could happen, as he apparently said in one of his speeches, only in America. I guess we all have to decide for ouster's whether or not that is a good thing.
In the meantime, we can applaud Keaton for another great performance.
