Forget it...

There IS such a thing as having too many twists and turns, and this film proves it.

The Story: A grieving mother is told that her dead son never existed. The movie is more or less a game of cat and mouse as she searches for proof of her sons existence... It's stylish, there's no denying that this film looks good, but the slightly nonsensical story takes too long to actually get anywhere. If you can get passed a repetitive story structure, and pointless twists and turns than you might find reason to accept this film as something worthy of your time. Aside from the aforementioned flaws, it tries to fit into too many genres. Is it science fiction? Is it drama? Is it crime drama? Is it supernatural thriller? Every time it falls into one of those categories it changes, and it's not a good change.

The Cast: Julianne Moore, Dominic West, Gary Sinise... Julianne Moore is Telly, she's searching for her supposedly non-existent son. She does a good job here, you feel her anger, pain, sadness and brings the character to life, but the dull script prevents her from going too far. Dominic West is Ash, like Telly he's searching for a daughter that he's forgotten. Not as good Moore, but better than expected. Gary Sinise is Dr. Jack Munce, Tellys psychiatrist. It's a small role and his character isn't necessarily the most crucial to the film, but he gives a decent performance none the less.

One to Five Scale: 2.

Many people will see this film and say, "I liked it because it was... Different". Those people can enjoy it for it's "differences", but everyone else can skip it because it's just not good.

Tyler.
