Review of The Foot Fist Way (2006) by Jared L — 03 Oct 2008
The Foot Fist Way is a very interesting movie in that I don't think it would have ever succeeded without having Danny McBride as its lead. The film is about a pretentious, jack-ass (pretty much every role McBride plays) Tae-Kwon-Do instructor who is heavily dedicated to teaching his students the way of the Do, however, things in his life start to fall apart once he realizes that his wife is a cheating bitch.
Virtually everyone in this film is unlikable, with McBride leading the way, though with him, we have come to love hating his characters, which have always been very funny to me. This film is of eclectic tastes and I think only a certain amount of people will truly appreciate it.
All of you avid Will Ferrell fans out there need not be suckered into seeing this film just because his name is attached to it; this is of a far different level of comedy than your standard Ferrell movie.
Watch the alternate ending, if you have a chance. It's absolutely hilarious and would have completely changed the scope of the entire movie had they kept it in (which I wish they would have). Not great, but not bad.
