Review of The Foot Fist Way (2006) by Finn M — 22 Jul 2012
While sometimes cloaked by a low budget and on occasion, a slightly hollow direction, their Is some high flying fun to be found in The Fist Foot Way, being an amateur comedy film about an abusive Taekwondo teacher that's home life hits a curve, an odd story.
As a Martial Art researcher and practitioner myself, who is infatuated with the culture of styles from mainstream arts like the subject matter, Taekwondo and less known arts like Siliat and Kajukenbo I laughed at some of the political points that poke fun at the branding of Martial Arts as mere "Product" and boasting right.
Danny Mcbride delivers as Fred Simmons a dry witted fool and grows better later in film. The fighting cherography is decent yet sometimes lacking and cartoonish and the fall-flat script tries far to hard.
But this is a brave take on cam-cord films. And as such does well on $30,000 of budget, give it a chance, rent it. A slightly obscure yet interesting flick.
