Tough to watch the brutalities of war. The Jews have the Nazis to hate while the Chinese have the Japanese to demonize. Must have been Deja vu for Christian Bale to make this war movie with the Japanese aggressors.
It was 30 years ago that Christian played a little boy caught in same war torn situation in Empire of the Sun. The sacrificial acts of 12 prostitutes plus a male guardian for the Church to save the 13 convent girls brought out the true spirit of Christ's self sacrificial love and redemption of the neighbour.
