Review of The Flowers of War (2011) by Ws W — 23 Sep 2013
After reading a lot of critics review, the obviously missed the whole point of the movie.
First off, this is a true story. It's not meant to reenact the true "horror" of the war, but rather focuses on the heroic acts of these "prostitutes".
The movie didn't miss any points because its about the story of these girls and the history was just a supporting setting of the event.
Second off, this isn't another white male saving an indigenous race. Matter of fact, Christian Bales' role wasn't heroic. He didn't do anything that saved the day. Rather, he utilized his skills to support the true heroes of the movie.
Above all, the way the roles were portrayed are all true human characteristic. Cowardly, selfishness, compassionate, etc.
The movie didn't glorify anything, so don't go off saying that this is another hero movie.
Watch it and you will know. This is a touching and remarkable story.
