Review of The Florida Project (2017) by Tiina N — 02 Feb 2018
The kids were wondrously oblivious to the dire circumstances where they live. As bad as it looked to adult eyes, I think the kids would later reminisce about those long childhood summer days and consider them happy times.
The film could have benefitted from tighter editing though, some scenes were dragging a bit. The kids were annoying but innocent (little Brooklyn Prince was such a natural!) but the mother was downright irritating.
She was immature and agressive and I felt no sympathy for her. I would only assume Willem Dafoe's character helped her out of concern for her kids. The soundtrack was good and there were a few brilliant scenes but my expectations were higher.
