Review of The Florida Project (2017) by Oliver W — 05 Oct 2018
The Florida Project plunges us into current issues with breathtaking reaslism carried wonderfully by Brooklynn Prince and Willem Dafoe. The color palette on display is spectacular. The lack of a soundtrack also accentuates the film's setting by manipulating our focus and putting us in the heart of the situation, giving the cast a chance to shine.
All things in account, there's nothing truly memorable about The Florida Project, besides its innate beauty, that caught my interest. The story itself lacks enough tension or character development to be an intriguing drama and instead relies on its cast to hold my attention.
The ending is emotional and imaginative in the way that it leaves its meaning up to interpretation, even if it doesn't resonate. But overall, this is still a satisfying film with great performances, some memorable moments, and a poignant ending.
