Review of The Florida Project (2017) by Nunya B — 10 Apr 2018
The way "The Florida Project" portrays the lower class is subtly empathetic and heartbreakingly real. The characters in this movie feel like actual people living in this motel. The film transports you to this world that is both simple yet complex.
It does so much with so little. The standout performance in the film is Willem Dafoe in a supporting role. His character has this likability to him that is a joy to watch. I also felt the child actors in this movie were very good and felt like kids who are being raised in this sort of setting.
I will say since the film is so realistic, it does have segments of time where not a lot happens. However, this can add to the focus on day to day struggles these characters have. The movie is ultimately a heartfelt one that has an ending that left me thinking.
