Review of The Fisher King (1991) by David G — 06 May 2008

Just about the perfect length and with a center like a Fox's glacier mint. This is a film which resonates with anyone who has ever felt even the tiniest bit removed from the norm. It's a tale of insanity, of regret, of remorse, of love. It's directed and acted with a clear and undeniable affection for the peripheristas; those who live at the edge of "normality". Bridges is immense, as he so often is, while Robin Williams is simply outstanding. Gilliam's fantasy sequences are directed deftly and invoke whimsy and menace by turns.

This is truly great cinema.
