Review of The Final Girls (2015) by Jessica T — 19 Dec 2015
The Final Girls makes fun of the slasher horror genre in an amusing way. The humor isn't that intelligent, but boy did I laugh a lot. It makes fun of the genre to nearly complete perfection. The cast looks like they are having a blast.
The film also had a surprisingly emotional core, with the relationship between the daughter and the mother. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Not all the jokes hit, but most do. I was cracking up at some parts.
The film nicely makes fun of the horror genre. It isn't too stupid, like the Scary Movie franchise. You have to be a movie buff, like myself, to really enjoy the movie. If you don't know a thing about the Friday the 13th franchise, you're gonna hate this film.
If you love '80s slasher films and know the tropes, you will really enjoy the film.
