Review of The Fall (2006) by Colby F — 14 Mar 2011
This is a beautiful movie. Beautiful costumes, cinematography, music, everything about 'The Fall' has been painstakingly made and it shows; the film elevates itself above modern media and becomes pure art right from the opening credits.
Catinca Untaru is the star of this film, though Lee Pace is quite good also, and her performance is electrifying. She needs a "Best Actress" award for her performance as she is the emotional backbone to the story; the final 20 minutes are dangerously tender (I was crying, I expect you will too).
And the relationship between Untaru's and Pace's characters is so good you'll be completely fixated: the dream-like story scenes will captivate you, but the moments of reality - those scenes in the hospital - are just as mesmerizing.
I love this movie!
