Review of The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989) by The Critic ( — 14 Jan 2013
Steve Kloves' sharply written and grittily produced tale showcases an assortment of examples of wit and emotion, as well solid performances from the three principal players and, yes, Michelle Pfeiffer's sultry performance of 'Makin' Whoopee'.
But 'The Fabulous Baker Boys' is about more than just song routines and the darker side of being a professional performer; it's about people trying to find themselves in the world, driven by passion and fear.
A career highlight for all concerned; it is to date Pfeiffer's most acclaimed and awarded role.
