Review of The Experiment (2010) by Brian V — 22 Feb 2011
Back in the 80s there was this obscure little hit called "The Things I Do For Money I'll Never Understand". They could have played that during the closing credits. The most disturbing thing about this movie is that something very similar actually happened.
Complete strangers are brought together and screened into two control groups in the famous prisoner/guard scenario. Brody plays a laid off caregiver who becomes the prisoners de facto leader and is juxtaposed off of Whitakers power drunk guard leader. The group running the experiment lets things escalate from minor pranks to lethal combat as the most base elements of humanity flourish. The action is sporadic but the mood holds you for the entire film.
