Review of The Exorcist III (1990) by Sean T — 21 Oct 2010
I'm sure I'm committing horror movie blasphemy here, but I honestly think this movie is better than the original. The Exorcist relied so much on scares through shock value. It got so over the top that it actually made me laugh.
The Exorcist III, however, is more about tension and a sense of dread. Sure, there's a fair amount of humor early on, but when the film really gets going, its no laughing matter. I only have two problems with the movie.
George C. Scott does a decent job, but he also does a lot of overacting; mostly whenever he yells. I also think the ending is a bit on the weak side. Other than that, I really liked it.
