Review of The Exorcist III (1990) by The N — 23 Jul 2017
Blatty's film is a horrifyingly frightening and brutal psychological drama that weaves wonderfully in and out of conflicted religious themes. The direction is often flawed with a very bizarre but circumstantial edit that has been heavily affected by the studio, shots either cut too late or too early and are inconsistent.
The camera work and cinematography look beautiful with a tense and eerie atmosphere caught beautifully. The performances are terrific Scott's role is pure sheer class, with great range and emotion.
The finale while stark and contrasting to the scenes before it, is both shocking and hideously excessive but their is method in madness.
