A very effective and chilling story of a woman repeatedly attacked in her home by an unseen force. She seeks help from a psychologist but when that doesn't work the parapsychologists are called in. They witness some pretty strange activity at her home. They set about doing something that nobody has ever done before - capture an entity by freezing it in liquid helium but will it actually work?

A truly scary, disturbing and frightening movie which is allegedly based on a true story though it gets a bit far fetched near the climax. The story unfolds as it sucks you in and doesn't let go for a second. Barbara Hershey is brilliant in her role as Carla Moran - you root for her from the first slap in the face from the entity right through to her final defiance of whatever is attacking her. What makes this movie so good is the entity itself is never explained - it's a mystery that lets the viewer decide for itself why the 'thing' decided to pick on Carla to attack. Sidney Furey created one of the most stunning horror movies ever. His direction is solid and managed to create very scary scenes. The direction is stylish and totally works for this horror movie. Overall this is an under-rated movie that is actually one of the best horrors of the 80's and one of the most frightening movies ever that if taken seriously could scare the hell out of you!
