Review of The Enforcer (1976) by Diego D — 27 Sep 2010
Detective Callahan wages war on a way ahead of its time terrorist group and his by-the-books superiors. His partner for this mission is a determined female officer who refuses to be bullied by male-chauvinist cops. Callahan and partner save the mayor, Dirty-Harry style.
Yeah, they save the fat mayor alright, but the rookie parter gal (famed Tyne Daley) gets too involved in the process.
If you are a gal so inclined to be a police officer, watch this and then forget the idea entirely!
Eastwood is classic as the big gun man here, while a short scene with a fellow cop gets us excited in the woods, where Harry practices aiming his "canon", the most powerful handgun in the world.
The showdown happens at none other than San Francisco's Alcatraz island, prison on a rock. Enjoy watching the overweight mayor squirm as he's hauled up to a lookout tower.
Boys and girls, you can wait for this type of film to come along again, but not in our lifetime. Make my day.
