Review of The Enforcer (1976) by Andrew R — 24 May 2011
The third Dirty Harry film unfortunately suffers from a lazy script and a gimmicky finale. Perhaps my ignorance of 1970â(TM)s anti-Vietnam sentiment is showing, but I never fully grasped the motivation of the maniacal hippy militia setting San Fran on full alert.
I thought the scenes with Harry and his unpetitioned rookie female partner (played by Daly) were the highlight of the film and a classic unsolicited buddy cop relationship repeated in many movies was born.
The final battle went over the top with using Alcatraz and converted the plausible into the inexecutable.
