Review of The Enforcer (1976) by Sam M — 13 Oct 2015
Far and away the best of the Dirty Harry movies. If you thought harry had hung up his badge from the ending of Magnum Force, think again. By this third outing, the Dirty Harry persona had become finely honed, not unlike the knife one of the terrorists he stalks uses to dispatch people at the beginning of the film. Sure, Harry doesn't show the righteous indignation and anger he showed at the end of the first one, as if, inappropriately, someone had done him a personal of wrong of magnum proportions, but all of his sly insults and witty comebacks are here and violence of amazing clarity and starkness.
When I first started watching these movies I thought they must be some kind of a parody of American values and couldn't help laughing a little. That was until I found out that Eastwood had once been a Republican mayor of Carmel, CA. Then it all made sense.
