Review of The Elephant Man (1980) by Zurina . — 20 Mar 2010
An unforgetable and moving film (based on a real-life story of Joseph Merrick [1862-1890]). A must-see. The choice to have this 1980 film to be made in black and white is brilliant, as it permeates the aura of the Victorian-age, which is the setting of the flim.
The film has managed to transcend the decadence and loneliness felt by John Merrick, or The Elephant Man (wonderfully acted by John Hurt). A David Lynch film.
