Review of The Elephant Man (1980) by Hasan O — 05 Nov 2011
David Lynch David Lynch...Who else, unbelievably critical performance from John Hurt.
Anthony Hopkins stretches his character so nicely and humanly. A worthy praise for the cinematography-work by Freddie Francisand, which jams scenes in rather murky situations, the ending scene especially, which strikes so hard with astounding set-design, camera rolling over John Merrick (John Hurt)trying to sleep for the first time straight like the man in painting, to die peacefully, and camera slowly goes out to starry sky, this is magnificent and world-class scene.
