Lena Horne's film debut is a story about an entertainer who sacrifices his career so that she can become a bigger star. It's A Star Is Born without the alcoholism pretty much. Lena Horne radiates star quality in a time where such quality goes unrecognized by the color of her skin, but viewing it now even amidst her passing recently, still radiates.
