Review of Private Buckaroo (1942) by James H — 27 Aug 2007
This is probably the only classic film I'd rate under 5 because it lags in alot of areas. It features a fairly weak love story between an enlisted private and a generals niece. There is definitely more music than war.
It also seems to jump around and the musical numbers just seem to pop out of nowhere. I think it would have been better had it not been paid by public domain. Had a big studio released it, it could have been excellent.
Especially in color. It really shines with the cast of musical guests: Harry James and his orchestra, Helen Forrest, Dick Foran, and the Andrews Sisters. The films ending was far better than its beginning.
Very patriotic. A nice little film.
