Review of The Drop (2014) by Julie P — 11 Sep 2015
Tom Hardy portraits a simple minded Brooklyn bartender. His bar is targeted, as many are, for laundering cash from local gangsters. Each character is rich and intriguing. James Gandolfini also does what he always did in this type of movies and does it well.
Not as tough as usual but a thug nonetheless. A twist at the end puts this movie in the top ten favorites of mine. If you loved Mystic River (and how can you not?) you'll love The Drop.
