Review of The Drop (2014) by Daniel P — 27 Nov 2016
The chief pleasure from watching this film is from admiring the nuanced acting from the four leads (Hardy, Rapace and Schoenaerts - a Brit, a Swede and a Belgian effortlessly convincing as lived-in New York/Jersey residents).
The storytelling is not a strength - the plot beats are weak and the framework is derivative, though the third-act twist is done with verve - and there's nothing in The Drop that will leave a lasting impression.
But those performances are noteworthy.
