Review of The Drop (2006) by Dana F — 21 Oct 2015
Not sure why so much of this movie focused on a dog, but if you're a dog lover then you'll probably like it. Otherwise, the acting by all was superb. Gandolfini was perfect. The gritty portrayal of a gritty Brooklyn bar scene controlled by a Chechan mob was reminiscent of "French Connection", one of the classics, in its realistic portrayal.
Otherwise, the plot had twists and turns, and was interesting, but it was too slow and lasted too long. And the focus on the dog still has me scratching my head. I guess I didn't really like the film, nor would I watch it again.
But objectively, it was well done, except for a slow, plodding plot.
