Review of The Drop (2006) by Trevor P — 17 Sep 2018
I've not heard of the Director Roskam but you feel that the power of this story mostly lays with the source material penned by Dennis Lehane. This is another work that can easily stand alongside 'Mystic River' or 'Gone Baby Gone'.
It's helped along by some terrific performances as well, Hardy steals the show with a brilliant character piece but he's supported brilliantly by Gandolfini, Rapace and Schoenaerts. Great little film, the plot may be simplistic but everything in this film goes on between the lines, as you try to figure out everyone's angles and motivations.
