Review of The Drop (2006) by Griffin M — 08 Oct 2014
The Drop is a straightforward crime drama, one that succeeds due to the strength of its cast. Tom Hardy and James Gandolfini give great performances, which easily standout as the films greatest asset. The supporting cast is mentionable as well, with Noomi Rapace bringing a lot to the game.
I enjoyed the simplicity of the script, with a story that was easy to follow and fun to invest in. You appreciate the characters and you want to see where its all leading towards. While it may not be the masterpiece I was hoping, it was a thrilling and smart crime film that was a worthy send off as Gandolfini's last film role.
The Drop is definitely worth a view, if nothing else than for its brilliant cast.
